What we collect when you book a visit, what we do with it, and what we don't.

Who we are

HeyTech (ABN 51 806 510 051) is an on-site computer repair and IT support business operating across Greater Hobart, Tasmania. If you've got a question about your information, you can reach us at hey@heytech.com.au or (03) 6281 9296.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to come and fix your tech. When you fill out our booking form, that's:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your mobile number
  • The address you'd like us to visit
  • The category of help you need
  • A short description of the problem

We don't ask for date of birth or identification. We never ask for passwords or banking details through the website — if anyone ever asks you for those before a visit, it isn't us.

Payment details. When we book a visit in, we also take card details up front to hold the slot. Card details are entered directly into a secure form provided by Stripe and sent straight to Stripe's API — they don't pass through our servers and we don't store them in our database. What we see back from Stripe is only what we need to recognise the payment: the last four digits of the card, the card brand, and whether the charge succeeded or failed.

How we use it

We use the information you give us to:

  • Reply to your booking and arrange a time to visit
  • Find your address on the day
  • Send you a written quote, an invoice or a follow-up note after the visit
  • Improve the service over time (looking at common problems, busy suburbs, that sort of thing — never with information that identifies you)

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for marketing.

Who else sees it

A few specific service providers handle parts of our business on our behalf, and they may briefly handle your information:

  • Stripe handles every card payment. The card details are entered into Stripe's own secure form and sent directly to Stripe's API; we receive only the metadata Stripe passes back (last four digits, brand, charge status). Their privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
  • Resend sends our booking emails. Your form submission travels through their servers (based in the United States) on its way to our inbox. Their privacy policy is at resend.com/legal/privacy.
  • Vercel hosts the website itself. Server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) are kept for normal operational reasons. Their privacy policy is at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 helps us see which pages people find useful. We've set it to anonymise IP addresses and not share data with other Google services.

Beyond those, the only time we'd share your information is if a court or law-enforcement authority required us to. That's never actually happened.

How we store it

Booking form submissions arrive in our inbox at hey@heytech.com.au and are kept for as long as we need to do the job and meet our tax and warranty obligations — typically up to seven years. Older records are deleted.

Cookies and analytics

The website uses minimal cookies — just what's needed to keep the site working (Vercel's session cookies) and a privacy-respecting analytics setup that counts visits without tracking individuals. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can:

  • Ask us what information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information (within our tax/warranty retention limits above)
  • Make a complaint about how we've handled your information

Email hey@heytech.com.au with the subject line “Privacy” and we'll get back to you within seven business days. If you're not happy with our response, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material about how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the “last updated” date at the top.
